The nine-headed Hydra was unemployed and disheartened. No one sought her services anymore—enlightenment had spread across the once-shadowed land of Tadmor, and her fearsome presence was no longer needed.
Then, one day, a kind-hearted young man appeared: a passionate and enthusiastic Quaternity player who dared to speak to her. With warmth and sincerity, he tried to console her and suggested something unexpected—a meaningful and ethical new path: helping others. With few options and a growing sense of trust in the young man, the Hydra agreed.

Before she knew it, she found herself enthralled, watching game after game, assisting the young man—whose name was Scott—by helping him perceive everything happening on the board at once. Just imagine it: eighteen eyes!
For Hydra, it was effortless—and exhilarating. For the first time in ages, she felt a spark of joy. And Scot? He began to win, match after match. Whispers soon spread:
“He never misses a thing.”
Rumours of the unusual partnership made their way across the land. But instead of fear, people felt curiosity. Eventually, other players approached Hydra as well, asking for her guidance. She discovered that helping them recognise patterns and possibilities not only kept her engaged—it gave her a sense of purpose.
Tadmor’s darkness had lifted, but now Hydra herself shone in a new light. No longer a creature of legend feared by all, she had become a mentor, with all nine heads nodding in satisfied agreement.
And Scott? He would simply smile and say:
“See? Everyone has their place on the board.”
